Two more core benefits of mediation for divorce

On Behalf of Taylor-Made Solutions, PLLC | May 11, 2021 | Uncategorized

You can use mediation in your divorce case, and it is an alternative to going to court. Mediation means you do not have to litigate and you and your spouse have more control over the results. You’re not letting the court decide.

You have probably heard that mediation can often save you money. That’s why a lot of people first begin considering it. But that’s not the only upside. What are some of the other benefits?

Mediation is often much faster

First off, mediation doesn’t take as long as a court case, generally speaking. Since you don’t have to wait on the court’s schedule, you can usually get through the process much faster. You don’t have the same wait times. With some divorce cases, you have to wait weeks or months before you can even get in front of a judge, and then there can be other delays. You can start mediation right away. You do not have to drag this process out and let it consume a large portion of your life.

Mediation is private

Even if a court case wouldn’t be private, mediation is. You get to make decisions and determine who knows the details of the case. This is something people often want when they’re working through a divorce. Your reasons for ending your marriage are your own, and you want to keep the details — such as your financial details — private. You can do it with a mediator in a way that you just can’t in court.

Should you use mediation?

As you can see, it’s definitely worth considering all of your legal options to see what works the best for you. You may find that mediation gives you and your soon-to-be-ex the exact divorce process that you’ve been hoping for.
