Meet Lisa Taylor
I became an attorney in 1988, earning my law degree from the University of Michigan. In 1999, I experienced my own divorce and the emotional turmoil it created for my children and for me. That year, I took the training to become a civil mediator but mediated only a few cases, because I became more heavily involved in litigation.
Although successful, I did not feel fulfilled, because litigating is really "lose-lose" for everyone. I decided to make a change, and trained to become a divorce mediator, leaving a successful litigation firm to pursue mediation full time.
Mediation has fulfilled all expectations for me and my clients. Instead of finding ways to weaken the other side, which was my job as a litigator, now I empower both sides so they can resolve disputes and move forward with their lives.
Regarding my education, I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan as well as my law degree. I trained as a mediator through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) and the Oakland Mediation Center, and completed the ICLE's family law Certificate program. I act as a training coach for the Oakland Mediation Center's mediator training program and provide volunteer mediation services there and with the Wayne County Friend of the Court.
My fee is $150.00 per hour ($75 per person, per hour, if you pay separately). There is no retainer and our initial phone consultations are free. I conduct an in-depth phone screening with each of you (free of charge) so we may all determine if mediation is appropriate for your divorce case.
I hope to have the opportunity to work with you. If you would like further information, please call or
e-mail me.
